Sports, like music makes little of political boundaries and economic bias. As you watch a game in a stadium, you are one with every soul gathered there to witness an idol. And that awe is just as palpable even in the living room or in sports bars where fans are no less enthusiastic. Your emotions would have painted a wonderfully vibrant masterpiece with colors ranging from the anxious nail-biting to joy to nervous tension and many more.
But different sports elicit different levels of intensity from their audiences. Mind you, the emotions are all the same. There’s the wild and uncontrollable football fans, which form the largest fan base of the game. Then there’s the intense and heavy atmosphere around a wrestling mat. And of course, the game that always makes me feel as if I’m the one swinging for that annoying 2.7 gram table tennis ball.
So I figured we could make good use of our Editable PowerPoint World Map to see which countries favor which sport. So to begin with, I grouped all the countries using Ctrl + G. Then I changed the fill color to white and the shape outline to a light grey. After that, I ungrouped the shape so I could color the countries individually. This I did by using Shift + Ctrl + G. After that it was only a matter of filling up the corresponding countries as per a legend.
To summarize, I think football really takes the top prize as it covers all the continents. Next is cricket which looks like a common sport for both India and Australia, two countries that are as different from each other as football is from cricket. But then again, sport is sport. So long as it commands the respect it does today and wields the power to unite men and women from diverse parts of the world, who am I to judge?
