In my last article I talked about what is wrong with presentations in India (and possibly with other parts of the world as well). I had highlighted 10 weaknesses which presenters in India suffer from. In today’s post I wish to propose 5 cures for the weaknesses. These tips should help you deliver better presentations.
Tip 1: Handle your tool well
MS PowerPoint (or Keynote) is just a communication tool. If you want to be a better presenter, learn how to handle your tool well. You need not become the master of PowerPoint, but try to learn enough about it.
There are various ways of becoming better at PowerPoint.
- Read about PowerPoint tips online. You can do so every Friday evening in office.
- Follow a presentation / PowerPoint blog. There are plenty of bloggers who write good content and share PowerPoint tips frequently. Just type ‘presentation blogs’ in Google and you’ll find plenty of them.
- Do not hesitate to try out some random features of PowerPoint. For example, there is a feature in PowerPoint called ‘Rehearse Timings’. If you don’t know what it does look for help within the software or read about it on Google.
Take every opportunity to solve problems which your colleagues face in office. If a colleague of yours approaches with a problem, don’t turn your back and volunteer to crack the problem with her.
